Checking in a Student as Tardy
Checking-in Students into their FlexTime Activity from FlexTime
Step by Step:
- Navigate to FlexTime and select Activities
- Under Flex Period, ensure that you have the correct FlexPeriod
- To see only the activities that you are leading, select My Activities
- Select Check In on the appropriate activity
- Scan the student's ID, type in their name or select the student(s) from the list and click Check In
Checking Students in from MyTools
Step By Step:
1. Click on MyTools and select Assign a Check-In
2. Select FlexActivity and then on the FlexTime Period dropdown, click the appropriate period
3. Click the activity you are checking students into
4. Enter an optional note (this will be visible to admins in the FlexTime History Report)
5. Click Next, and select the student(s) you are checking in
6. A green check mark and a success message will appear
Time Restricted Check-ins
Prevent students from "gaming the system" and checking in before arriving at their activity by restricting check-in times.
Step by step:
1. Navigate to the Settings tab in FlexTime
2. Toggle the Restrict check in times setting ON
When enabled, students and teachers will see the following when a check-in occurs outside of the scheduled time:
Checking in a Student as Tardy
Sometimes students slip into FlexTime activities late and are overlooked, but now you can mark them as Tardy and automatically issue a guidance behavior, ensuring that your automated progressive disciplinary framework captures all behaviors.
Step by step:
1. Navigate to Activities in the FlexTime module
2. Click on Manage students icon for the desired activity
3. Select Check in as tardy
To automatically add a tardy guidance behavior to the FlexTardy check-in, an admin can enable this in the Flex Settings:
Add Points to Flex Check-Ins
Enhance student participation and develop a motivating FlexTime experience by adding points that are awarded to a student upon check-in.
Step-by-step:
1. Navigate to the Activity Template tab
2. Click on the Create activity button
3. Scroll down to the Points awarded or subtracted area
4. Enter the number of points to be added or removed upon checking into the activity
📣 A record of points awarded from Flex Check-ins will be visible in the Points History Report under Flex Activity in the Reason column
Enable Student Self-Check-in
Save valuable instructional time by allowing students to check themselves into their FlexActivity.
Step by Step:
1. Navigate to the Activity Template tab in FlexTime
2. Click on the Create activity button
3. Scroll down and locate the Enable self-check-in setting and toggle it on
4. Click View QR code and then Print to make the QR code available for students to scan
