      How to Create or Assign Hall Passes

      How teachers and students can use and create/assign Hall Passes.

      Permission Level: Owner | Manager | Teacher | Student

       

      How Minga Hall Passes Work in the Classroom

      Here is a simple workflow for uninterrupted classes:

      1. Ask Permission - Student asks the teacher's permission to go to the bathroom or for a drink of water. (This represents 90-95% of typical hall pass usage)
      2. Approval - Teacher responds with "yes, go ahead and create your Hall Pass" or "no" and the process is over
      3. Create Pass - Student creates their own 5 min hall pass on their mobile device or school approved device (Chromebook...) and shows it to the teacher to confirm
      4. Use Pass - Student can depart with or without their device. Staff who request to see pass may view on the student's or their own device

      How Students Create Their Own Hall Passes

      When a student has been given verbal permission to use a Hall Pass to leave the classroom, they can create their own Hall Pass.

      The passes that are permitted for student creation will be available for students to create a 5 minute pass or whatever Default Time you've set. 

      The pass will be visible on the student's Digital ID with a countdown timer on their own device (phone, Chromebook etc) or from a staff member's device.

      1. Open the Minga app or visit app.minga.io
      2. Click Student Tools
      3. Choose Create a Hall Pass
      4. Select Hall Pass 
      5. Hit Create Hall Pass
      6. Go Go Go!

      How Teachers Assign Hall Passes

      When a teacher would like to grant a Hall Pass for any reason, the steps are simple!

      1. Open the Minga app or visit app.minga.io
      2. Click Teacher Tools
      3. Under Hall Pass Tools click Assign Hall Pass
      4. Select Hall Pass, Pass Duration and click Assign Hall Pass
      5. Choose Scan an ID or Search User
      6. Search or Scan for individual - Filter by Group, Grade, or Role
      7. Click Search
      8. Check off desired individual(s)
      9. Hit Add
      10. That's all!

      Please note - If you know that a certain student(s) will need a Hall Pass issued for a specific date and time, you can schedule one to kick in automatically.
