Every night, Minga syncs your student, staff, and class data with your Student Information System (SIS) through MingaSync. The OneRoster History log is where you see exactly what happened during that sync: what changed, what didn't, and what needs your attention.
This article walks you through reading the sync summary, opening the detailed Import Details report, and understanding the most common sync errors you'll run into.

What OneRoster History shows
The OneRoster History log gives you a running summary of every overnight sync between your SIS and Minga, organized by date.
Step-by-step guide
Navigate to People > Rostering.
The Rostering tab shows your SIS connection settings and sync history.
Scroll down to the OneRoster History heading.
This table lists your recent overnight syncs by date, along with a summary of what happened in each one.
Review the summary for a sync date.
Each row shows the number of records added under Incoming and the number removed under Archived.
Counts are broken out by category: Students, Teachers, Staff, Terms, and Sections.
Viewing the Import Details report
For a full breakdown of what happened during a specific sync, open its Import Details report.
Step-by-step guide
Click the 'i' icon under the Details column for the sync date you want to review.
This opens the Import Details report for that date.
Review the report for each category: Students, Teachers, Staff, Terms, and Sections.
Each category has its own report with six tabs.
Tab | What it shows |
Created | User accounts, terms, or sections that were newly added during this sync. |
Updated | Records that had data changed during this sync. |
Ignored | Records with no difference between Minga and the SIS. Minga made no changes because none were needed. |
Restored | Users or records brought back into Minga after being previously deleted or archived, because they're still present in the SIS. |
Archived | Records removed during this sync because they no longer exist in the SIS. |
Errors | Records that could not sync, along with the reason. |
Click the download icon under the Files column to download a category's report.
The file contains the full sync data for that category and date and will automatically download to your device.
Understanding common sync errors
Errors appear in the Errors tab of a category's Import Details report. The tables below cover the most common ones.
Students, Teachers, and Staff errors
Error message | What it means | How to resolve it |
Syncing a user requires an email address | The student, teacher, or staff record in your SIS does not include an email address. Minga requires an email address to create a user profile. | Add an email address to that person's record in your SIS. Minga imports the record on the next overnight sync. |
Terms errors
Error message | What it means | How to resolve it |
Term [ID] not in settings, not importing | This term has not been selected under the Manage class rosters to be synced setting. | Navigate to People > Rostering, open Manage class rosters to be synced, and select the missing term. Click Save. |
Sections errors
Error message | What it means | How to resolve it |
Teacher [ID] not found in Minga for [Section], not importing | The teacher assigned to this section either has no Minga user profile, or has Include user in SIS sync toggled off on their profile. | Confirm the teacher has a Minga user profile and that Include user in SIS sync is toggled on. [Inferred — verify exact toggle location against current UI] |
Section [ID] with grades [Grade] is not included in the grades being imported, not importing | Under Manage class rosters to be synced, sections are filtered by grade, and this section's grade is not selected. | Navigate to People > Rostering, open Manage class rosters to be synced, deselect all grade filters, and click Save. |

Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
Issue: A student, teacher, or staff member did not sync into Minga.
Solution: If a student, teacher, or staff member did not sync into Minga, check the Errors tab in that person's category on the Import Details report. The most common cause is a missing email address in your SIS. Minga requires an email address to create a user profile. Add the missing email address in your SIS and the record imports on the next overnight sync.
Issue: A class section did not import.
Solution: If a class section did not import, open the Errors tab under Sections in the Import Details report. Sections fail to import for two reasons: the assigned teacher is not found as a user in Minga (or has Include user in SIS sync toggled off), or the section's grade is filtered out under Manage class rosters to be synced. Fix the teacher's Minga profile or adjust your grade filter, then wait for the next overnight sync.
Issue: A term did not import.
Solution: If a term did not import, confirm the term is selected under Manage class rosters to be synced. Terms that are not selected in this setting will not import, even if they exist in your SIS. If it is not listed under Manage class rosters to be synced, double check that all current terms are shared in your SIS and all terms are included in your sharing permissions.
FAQs
FAQs
What do "Incoming" and "Archived" mean in the OneRoster History summary?
"Incoming" and "Archived" describe what changed during a sync. Incoming shows new information added during that sync. Archived shows information that was removed because it no longer exists in your SIS.
How often does the sync with MingaSync run?
The sync runs automatically once every night. The system-wide sync starts at around 11 PM PST and will roll through each Minga until all instances have had their nightly sync. You cannot trigger a manual sync or schedule your sync from the Rostering page.
Can I download a full report of a sync?
You can download a category's sync report by clicking the download icon under the Files column in the Import Details report. Or you can add your email address to the field under Send rostering results email.
Who can view OneRoster History?
Only users with the Owner or District Manager permission level can view OneRoster History.
Why do I see records in the Ignored tab?
Records appear in the Ignored tab when there is no difference between the record in Minga and the record in your SIS. Minga skips these records because no update is needed.
