Release Notes for 2026

Product release notes for feature and improvements.

Release 7.21.0- July 30, 2026

This update brings key improvements to Kiosk, FlexTime, Insights, Navigation, and Behaviors.

Updates include an app update prompt built directly into Kiosk mode, day-based priority assignment rules for FlexTime, and granular access controls for Insights reporting.

Additionally, a refreshed secondary navigation experience across the product, a short undo window for Behaviors, and improved sticker persistence logic make navigating and managing daily activities smoother for teachers, admins, and staff alike.

New Features

Kiosk - App Update Prompt in Kiosk

A school runs Minga on locked-down kiosk devices, and when a new app version is released, staff can't leave kiosk mode to manually trigger the update, so devices stay outdated and known fixes never reach the devices. Now, app update prompts show up directly on kiosk configuration screens so schools can update Minga without ever leaving kiosk mode.

👌 Good to Know: This keeps kiosk devices up to date without breaking the kiosk workflow, reducing support volume caused by bugs already fixed in newer versions and helping IT teams avoid extra manual steps.

FlexTime - Priority Assignment (Plus and Premium Only)

A school wants Monday FlexTime reserved for interventions like Math and Science support. Now, on Monday, only Math and Science activities can directly assign students, while everything else remains available for registration instead of taking priority spots.

Owners can navigate to FlexTime Settings to create Priority Categories, and teachers can assign those Priority Categories to their activity templates from FlexTime > Activity Template.

👌 Good to Know: This gives schools a simple way to enforce instructional priorities in FlexTime, replacing the current first-come-first-served scramble with a structure that reflects academic intent, protects high-priority intervention placements, and reduces manual reassigning for teachers and staff.

Check out the FlexTime Priority Assignments article for more details.

Insights - Insights Access & Permissions (Closed Beta, Plus and Premium Only)

Owners and Managers have access to Insights by default. Now, admins can grant selected teachers and staff access to specific reports, while students remain restricted from all reports.

Admins can manage this from Insights > Settings, adding teachers and staff members to the access control list.

👌 Good to Know: This gives schools control over report access so sensitive data is only visible to the right users, reducing overexposure of sensitive reporting data with report-level precision.

Behaviors - Undo Behaviors

Teachers occasionally assign the wrong praise or guidance by mistake. Until now, there was no way to undo it, and by the time an admin was alerted, automated emails or notifications had often already gone out, causing confusion for students, parents, and admins.

Now, after assigning a Praise or Guidance to one or more students, teachers and admins can tap Undo on the snackbar notification within 15 seconds to stop it before it's processed.

👌 Good to Know: This lets teachers self-correct mistakes in the moment with no admin required, stops automated emails and notifications from going out, and undoing one student's action does not affect others assigned at the same time.

Refer to Teachers' Guide to My Class for step-by-step instructions.

Improvements

Navigation - Updated Secondary Navigation Across Minga

A refreshed secondary navigation across Minga makes it easier to move between key areas of the product with a more consistent experience, improving wayfinding without requiring users to relearn navigation patterns in each area.

Behaviors - Sticker Persistence

Schools use stickers on a student's profile to hold back a privilege until outstanding consequences are cleared. When more than one consequence was tied to the same sticker, resolving just the first one removed the sticker, even though other tied consequences were still outstanding, letting students regain privileges before they should.

Now, stickers tied to multiple consequences stay active until all of them are resolved. Admins can specify this from Behavior > Consequences > Create Consequence, choosing whether a sticker is removed automatically when the consequence is resolved or must be removed manually.

👌 Good to Know: This prevents privileges from being restored before all tied consequences are cleared and removes the need to manually cross-check stickers against consequence history.

For a step-by-step walkthrough, check out Use Stickers with Consequences and Automations.

Release 7.20.0- July 22, 2026

This update brings a new Plus and Premium subscription feature to Minga (currently in closed beta), Scheduled Detentions. Owners set up detention sessions with defined days, times, capacity limits, and blackout periods. When a scheduled detention consequence is assigned, Minga automatically enrolls the student into an available session that respects capacity and blackout rules, as well as other rollover logic.

New Feature

Scheduled Detentions (Plus and Premium Only)

Manually scheduling detentions for students is labor-intensive and prone to mistakes. Finding an available session, checking capacity, and avoiding conflicts takes time, and that coordination has always fallen on whoever runs the detention program. Scheduled Detentions automates that entire step. The moment a consequence is issued, Minga assigns the student to an open session on its own, applying blackout dates, capacity limits, and escalation logic every time.

For full setup instructions and screenshots, see Set Up and Manage Scheduled Detentions.

Release 7.19.1- June 30, 2026

This update brings key improvements to FlexTime and My Class with a FlexTime Enrollments View. This view gives teachers multi-day visibility into student FlexTime registrations.

A new Plus and Premium feature, Hall Pass Queue, automatically places students into a fair, shared waiting line, then notifies students when it’s their turn to go. (currently in closed beta).

New Features

Hall Pass- Hall Pass Queue - AVAILABLE TO BETA TESTERS ONLY

When multiple students need a pass at once, teachers are stuck tracking a mental waitlist, and students lose focus repeatedly asking if it's their turn. Hall Pass Queue places students into a fair, shared waiting line automatically and notifies them when it's their turn to go. The queue also links to the school's building capacity limits, so a new student is only released once an active pass is completed, keeping hallway traffic under control without a teacher having to manage it.

👌 Good to Know: Hall Pass Queue requires Bell Schedule to be set up and applies only to hall passes assigned through a non-Kiosk workflow. This feature is behind a flag, available to beta testers only, and limited to Plus and Premium plans.

For a step-by-step guide to the Hall Pass Queue, refer to Hall Pass Queue: Managing Hallway Waitlists Automatically

Improvements

FlexTime- FlexTime Enrollments View

A new My Class view gives teachers multi-day visibility into student registrations for upcoming FlexTime periods. Instead of checking registrations one by one or seeing only the next period, teachers can see who's registered and who isn't, across multiple days in a single view. This makes it easier to catch unassigned students before they become a supervision issue.

Check out the Teachers' Guide to My Class for a full walkthrough.

Release 7.19.0- June 18, 2026

This update brings key improvements to FlexTime, Hall Passes, Events Calendar, Check Ins, and Behaviors.

Updates include hands-free scheduling with FlexTime Auto-Registrations (beta testers only), a consolidated single-view Minga Calendar, automated classroom boundary management for Hall Passes, and intelligent out-of-the-box templates for Behaviors and Check Ins.

Additionally, updates to FlexTime cloning cutoff dates, clearer Hall Pass history visibility in MyClass, and persistent report filters make navigating and managing daily activities smoother for teachers, admins, and staff alike.

New Features

FlexTime-FlexTime-Auto-Registrations-AVAILABLE TO BETA TESTERS ONLY

A multi-layered auto registration function that looks up the best classes for the unregistered students and registers them automatically without ignoring the restrictions and seat limit capacities.

FlexTime- Cloning Cutoff Date

Schools can start cloning FlexTime periods for the new school year, starting from July 1 instead of July 31.

Hall Passes- Max Active Hall Passes in a Class

Set a per-class limit on active hall passes so teachers don’t have to manually manage how many students are out at once.

Calendar- New Minga Calendar

A new Calendar page that replaces the Events page and consolidates a user's FlexTime, Events and Bell Schedule into a unified view.

Check In- New Default Check In Reasons

Newly created Minga's will have pre-set Check In reasons for Tardy and Excused Tardy, ready for use right away.

These reasons will automatically assign a Tardy or Excused Tardy behavior and assign a Tardy hall pass upon a completed check in.

👌 Good to Know: Default Check In Reasons are only generated for Minga's created after June 2026. Nothing will change for existing Mingas.

Behaviors- New Behavior Templates and Settings

Newly created Mingas will now have out-of-the-box default behavior templates (behaviors, consequences, automations, and settings), aligning more closely with the school environment.

👌 Good to Know: Default Behavior Templates are only generated for Minga's created after June 2026. Nothing will change for existing Mingas.

Improvements

Hall Passes- Hall Pass At-a-Glance Updates

Teachers can see each student’s hall pass history at a glance from the student card, without leaving My Class.

Behaviors- Save Reports Filters for Users

Report filters are now saved across navigation for all 5 report pages. Filters will reset when a user logs out of Minga or switches to a different Minga site.

Behaviors- Add date/time picker to alternate behavior assignment

Staff can now backdate behavior occurrences when assigning behaviors through the My Tools workflow. This ensures reports reflect when the behavior actually happened.

Release 7.18.0 - May 28, 2026

This update brings features aimed at improving school communication, streamlining daily workflows, and enhancing administrative efficiency.

Key improvements include automated emails for FlexTime registration and parent announcements, consolidated Hall Pass error modals, faster Kiosk confirmation screens, and expanded options for tracking student behaviors.

Additionally, updates to weekly summaries, clearer FlexTime period selections, and a new Intercom help link make navigating and managing daily activities smoother for teachers, admins, and families alike.

New Features

FlexTime - Registration Emails

Schools can now send automatic emails to students and/or their parents when a FlexTime period opens up for registration to ensure that students sign up for the required activities.

FlexTime - Dates Appended to Periods in My Tools > Check In and Kiosk

Teachers and admins can now easily select the right FlexTime period during check in if multiple periods have the same name to ensure accuracy in reports.

Community - Send Announcements as Emails to Parents

Schools can now send announcements as emails to parents to keep them informed of important notices.

Behaviors - New Guidance Types

Schools can now categorize their Guidances as one of the following to allow better reporting and trend monitoring:

  1. Academic

  2. Tardy

  3. Behavioral

  4. School Policy

  5. Other

Class Groups - Make Groups with FlexTime Lists

Teachers can now create random class groups using FlexTime lists to ensure participation in FlexTime activities.

Improvements

Help and Support - New link to Intercom

Teachers, staff and admins are now directed to the new Intercom Help menu when they click on the “Help and Support” Button.

Weekly Family Summaries - Emails Going out Saturday Mid Morning

Parent emails for weekly summaries now go out starting at 9am PST Saturday.

Weekly Family Summary Language Changes

The default template for weekly summary emails now uses the word “student” instead of “child” for more inclusive language.

Behaviors - Teacher Date and Time Adjustment

Teachers can now adjust date and time while assigning behaviors in My Class to allow behavior logging for the past incidents.

Kiosk - Updated Hall Pass Confirmation Timing

No more 30-second confirmation screen when a pass is created via Kiosk. This ensures students can move quickly and prevent traffic backups at Kiosks.

Hall Pass - Updated Error Messaging

To ensure greater student visibility and less teacher hassle, error modals now inform students that they have exhausted their limits if they encounter one of the following hall pass restrictions:

  1. Max passes limit

  2. No pass list

  3. One pass list

  4. Two Pass List

Teachers and admins now see an updated error message that stacks multiple restrictions into one message so they don't have to override each error individually.

Release 7.16.0 - March 31, 2026

This update brings anticipated feature updates to FlexTime, such as bulk deleting periods, drag and drop options in groups in My Class, and access to student profiles from the Hall Pass Dashboard.

New Features

Multi-day FlexTime Cloning

A new modal to allow admins to clone FlexTime Periods over a range of dates and days. This is currently behind a closed beta test and will be available to Premium and Plus customers once the beta test has concluded.

Undo a FlexTime Check In

Check in the wrong student by mistake? No problem! Teachers now get a grace period of ~15s to undo a FlexTime Check In if it is processed mistakenly. After a teacher clicks the check-in button for a student, a temporary "Undo" option appears for approximately 15 seconds.

UndoCheckIn

Parent Weekly Email Summaries

Improving the home-school communication, weekly parent summaries are a digest of the week. Sent home weekly to parent emails this digest recounts Hall Passes, Behaviors and more. This feature is available for Plus and Premium customers.

Improvements

Drag and Drop Students Between My Class Class Groups

The My Class feature to create randomly generated groups was handy, but lacked the ability to fine-tune the groups. Teachers can now simply drag and drop students from one group to another after generation.

FlexTime Period Visibility Setting

New settings to specify how many days in advance should teachers and students be able to view the periods. Even if an admin has cloned periods for the next three months, they can set the visibility to "7 days," ensuring students only see what is relevant for the upcoming week.

Located under FlexTime > Settings > Period Visibility, admins can specify exactly how many days in advance a FlexTime period becomes visible to the rest of the school.

Bulk Delete Periods

Admins can now select/multi-select/select all FlexTime periods and delete them in bulk without having to delete each instance individually.

Real-Time Auto Updates on My Class and Hall Pass Dashboards

My Class and the Hall Pass Dashboard now update automatically on any event change without requiring a manual refresh. The dashboard now utilizes an event-based architecture. When a student starts or ends a pass, the change is broadcast instantly. Staff members no longer need to click a "Refresh" button or wait for a page reload to see who is currently in the hallway.

Navigate to Student Profile from Hall Pass Dashboard

Hallway monitors can now click on the student name in the dashboard to directly navigate to the student’s profile. When a staff member stops a student in the hallway, they often need context immediately to make a fair decision. Simply clicking the students name will take them to their student pofile, where their class schedule and other details can be found.

Release 7.15.0 - February 24th, 2026

This update introduces enhanced class management in My Class, automated weekly communication for parents, and improved dashboard persistence for staff.

New Features

My Class At-a-Glance Hall Pass History

Teachers now have immediate visibility into a student's pass activity for the day. When a teacher requests a pass, or when a student's pass has just ended, a brief history of that student's daily passes will be displayed.

In my class, when a student requests a pass, the request icon will show how many passes they have had that day.
