Permission Level Required: Owner

In this article:

Community & Event Management

Your school now has one centralized calendar showing FlexTime sessions, Bell Schedule, and events for every user, replacing the separate Events page.

👌 Good to Know: Bell Schedule integration in the calendar is available on Plus and Premium plans only.

Email announcements to parents

You can now send announcements directly to parents by email to keep them informed of school news, without leaving Minga.

For a step-by-step guide, check out the Create a School Announcement article.

Weekly behavior summary for parents (Plus and Premium Subscriptions)

An automated email now goes out to parents every Saturday summarizing their student's week: hall pass usage, recognitions and consequences received, and points earned.

Check out Send Weekly Parent Summaries for steps to enable this feature.

👌 Good to Know: Available on the Plus and Premium plans. Enable it under Minga Settings > Communication & Notifications > Enable Weekly Summaries. This can be turned off per student.

Minga Assistant

The Minga Assistant launched in January, giving your staff AI-powered instant answers inside the app for common questions about how features work.

👌 Good to Know: Use the Minga Assistant to get answers in seconds! It is a great resource for when you need instant support.

Hallway Management & Digital IDs

Hall Pass Queue (Plus and Premium Subscriptions)

When a student can't get a pass right away, because of hallway capacity, a class limit, an active No Party Group, or a blackout period, Minga now holds the request in a queue instead of denying it outright. Students see their position in the queue, and the next student in line gets their pass automatically once a spot opens.

👌 Good to Know: Available on the Plus and Premium plans and requires and active Bell Schedule. The hall pass queue is not configured to work with kiosk mode at this time.

Per class hall pass limits

You can now set a school-wide limit on how many students can be out of any class at once. Once that limit is reached, Minga automatically denies or holds further pass requests, no teacher has to enforce it manually.

👌 Good to Know: Works best alongside the Hall Pass Queue, so students queue instead of being denied outright once the limit is hit. Full functionality across every workflow type requires Bell Schedule to be configured.

No Party Group Insights (Plus and Premium Subscriptions)

A new report helps you spot likely student meetups before they happen and see whether your existing No Party Groups are actually working.

For a deeper dive, check out the Insights Reports article HERE.

👌 Good to Know: Available on the Plus and Premium plans. Visible to Owners and Managers by default, and can be shared with specific Teachers at your discretion.

Tardy Management

Tardy Insights (Plus and Premium Subscriptions)

A new report shows how tardy patterns are trending across your campus and flags individual students who need attention or deserve recognition for improving.

For a step-by-step walkthrough, check out our Tardy Insights guide.

👌 Good to Know: Available on the Plus and Premium plans. Visible to Owners and Managers by default, and can be shared with specific Teachers at your discretion.

Positive Behavior & Rewards

Behavior Insights (Plus and Premium Subscriptions)

A new report tracks the balance of praise versus guidance across campus and flags at-risk students early, so recognition stays equitable school-wide.

Refer to our Behavior Insights walkthrough for more information.

👌 Good to Know: Available on the Plus and Premium plans. This report covers both praise and guidance data , visible to Owners and Managers by default, and can be shared with specific Teachers at your discretion

Negative Behavior & Consequences

Scheduled Detentions (Plus and Premium Subscriptions)

Instead of assigning detention as a consequence and managing the scheduling yourself outside Minga, you can now set up detention sessions with defined days, times, capacity limits, and blackout periods. When a scheduled detention is assigned as a consequence, Minga automatically enrolls the student into an available session that respects your capacity and blackout settings.

👌 Good to Know: Available on the Plus and Premium plans. Schools on Basic continue to use the existing Open Detention type, where scheduling happens outside Minga.

Behavior (Guidance) types

You can now organize the behaviors you track into standardized categories: Academic, Tardy, Behavioral, School Policy, or Other. This makes behavior reports filterable and comparable across your school.

FlexTime Intervention and Enrichment

FlexTime Automated Registrations (Plus and Premium Subscriptions)

Any student left unregistered for an upcoming FlexTime session can now be automatically placed into an available activity, prioritizing sessions run by teachers the student already knows , either on demand or on a schedule you set.

Check out Set Up Automatic Flex Time Registrations for a detailed walkthrough.

👌 Good to Know: Runs after teacher-led enrollment and student self-sign-ups. It only fills gaps, it doesn't override a student's own registration or a teacher's assignment. Available on the Plus and Premium plans.

FlexTime period notifications (Plus and Premium Subscriptions)

Parents and students are now notified automatically when FlexTime registration opens for a period, so more students sign up and fewer end up unplaced.

To configure this setting, refer to the FlexTime Set Up Guide.

Flex multi-day cloning (Plus and Premium Subscriptions)

You can now clone a FlexTime period , along with all its activities and settings, across an entire date range in a few clicks, instead of rebuilding your schedule manually week after week.

Check out the article, Create FlexTime Periods for a step-by-step walkthrough on cloning Flex Periods.

👌 Good to Know: Multi-day cloning does not clone enrolled students, only the period structure and activities. Available on the Plus and Premium plans.

Additional FlexTime activity types

The Flex activity type dropdown now includes Intervention, Enrichment, and Independent Work, so you can filter and schedule flex reports by these categories.

FlexTime period visibility setting

You can now control how far in advance Teachers and Students can see upcoming Flex Periods, so you can build out your schedule ahead of time without surfacing it before it's ready.

FlexTime bulk delete periods

You can now select multiple Flex Periods at once and delete them in bulk instead of one at a time. This is useful when resetting a schedule at the start of a semester.

Refer to Creating FlexTime Periods for a step by step walkthrough on bulk deleting Flex Periods.

FAQs

What subscription plan do I need to access the new 2026 features?

Most of the features covered in this article, including Hall Pass Queue, No Party Group Insights, Tardy Insights, Behavior Insights, Scheduled Detentions, and FlexTime Automated Registrations, require the Plus or Premium plan. Schools on the Basic plan do not have access to these features and continue using the existing tools, such as the Open Detention type for scheduling detentions outside Minga.

Can Teachers see the new Insights reports?

Teachers do not see No Party Group Insights, Tardy Insights, or Behavior Insights by default. These reports are visible to Owners and Managers by default, and an Owner or Manager can choose to share access with specific Teachers.

Does the Hall Pass Queue work with Kiosk Mode?

The Hall Pass Queue does not work with Kiosk Mode. If a student requests a pass through a kiosk, the queue behavior described in this article does not apply.

Does the Hall Pass Queue require Bell Schedule to be set up?

Yes. The Hall Pass Queue requires an active Bell Schedule to function. Schools without Bell Schedule configured cannot use the Hall Pass Queue feature.

Does FlexTime Automated Registration override a student's own sign-up or a teacher's assignment?

No. FlexTime Automated Registration only fills empty seats left after teacher-led enrollment and student self-sign-ups are complete. It does not override a student's existing registration or a teacher's assignment. Automated Registration prioritizes placing the unregistered student into a session run by a teacher the student already knows.

Does Flex multi-day cloning copy enrolled students to the new dates?

No. Flex multi-day cloning copies the FlexTime period structure and its activities across the selected date range, but it does not clone enrolled students. Each cloned period starts with no students enrolled, and registration must happen again for each new date.

Who can enable the Weekly Behavior Summary email for parents?

An Owner enables the Weekly Behavior Summary by navigating to Minga Settings > Communication & Notifications and turning on Enable Weekly Summaries. This feature is available on the Plus and Premium plans, and it can be turned off for an individual student.
